How do I prepare for my tattoo?
Please eat and drink plenty of water before coming in for your tattoo and piercings. Wear comfortable clothing, and don’t wear anything you don’t want to be stained. Make sure your skin is clean and free of any lotions or perfumes. Also, be sure to bring a valid license or identification card.
Do not drink alcohol before your tattoo (this thins the blood), and we will not tattoo anyone who’s intoxicated.
How do I book an appointment?
All appointments must be booked with the individual artists, each artist is in charge of their deposits & scheduling. You can find each of our artist’s preferred booking methods on their gallery pages. Deposits are required on all appointments; deposit ranges are $20-$50. If you do not leave a deposit your appointment is not guaranteed.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We understand that emergencies do arise, and that’s completely fine. Please contact the artist with at least 24 hours’ notice, but the sooner, the better. We offer one opportunity to reschedule (pending you have provided proper notice); after that, you forfeit your deposit. If you need to cancel an appointment, your deposit will be forfeited. No-call no-shows will automatically forfeit their deposit. Please understand that artists carve out their personal time designing/preparing most custom tattoos and for your appointments. Tattoo artists are not paid hourly.
What do I do if I have sunburn or skin damage?
Please contact your artist and reschedule your appointment if you have recent abrasions/injury or sunburn to the area to be tattooed. Tattooing over damaged skin will affect the results of your tattoo.
Can you tattoo over scar tissue?
Yes, absolutely! As long as the skin is completely healed.
Do I need an appointment for piercings?
Appointments are not required for piercings, but you are welcome to contact our piercers to make one. We have piercers at both our Mastic/Shirley & Patchogue locations; hours & days vary. Please feel free to call our shops before coming down to check availability.
Do we pierce genitals?
No, we do not pierce genitals at any of the locations. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Do we sell aftercare products?
Yes, we sell a variety of both tattoo & piercing aftercare products. Please visit one of our locations, see also our aftercare page (link).
What should I do if I have a problem with my new tattoo?
Please contact the artist directly as soon as possible. They are more than happy to assist. See our Aftercare page (link) for what to expect and what is and is not normal. If there are any other issues, please contact the owner Jon Naughtin. He will be more than happy to assist with any issues; we want to ensure all our clients have a fantastic experience with East End Tattoo.
How much does a tattoo cost?
Our shop minimum is $80, but some artists have different minimums. Each of our artists has different rates, and many factors go into pricing (style, detailing, colors, size); we can not estimate or quote prices for the artists. Hourly rates range from $125-$200 an hour, but most small/medium size pieces will be an agreed-upon flat rate. We also have some artists who only uses flat rates by piece or session. To get a more accurate estimate, please reach out to the particular artist you are interested in directly with reference images, rough sizing, and placement for the most accurate ballpark quote. Many of our artists post available flash on their Instagram stories with flat prices. We also host various flash specials, such as Friday the 13th, which have many feasible price ranges, be sure to turn on post notifications!
Can a minor get tattooed with a signed consent form?
No. In New York state, you must be 18 years or older.
Can a minor get a piercing?
Yes, minors age 16+ with a completed & notarized consent form with a legal guardian (link).
Do you pierce newborn/infant/toddler ear lobes?
The youngest age we pierce is 12 (ear lobes only).
